Day 1 – 1

International Arrival

Milan

When someone says Milan, what do you think of? Well, one of the fashion capitals of the world, replete with stunning fashion weeks, with the best of the haute couture brands on the ramp. But there’s a lot more to this city that was once dismissed as being too industrial. Travelers are drawn to its old-world charm meets cosmopolitan vibe, set amid stunning countryside. Its streets are as filled with castles, churches and avant-garde architecture as they are with extravagant indoor shopping malls featuring high fashion brands. The Piazza del Duomo is the city’s beating cultural heart – it’s home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, many museums and public exhibitions and is replete with stories chronicling the city’s history. Equally worthy of being called an architectural icon is the towering UniCredit skyscraper (Italy’s tallest). Add to this mix the Quadrilatero d’Oro, with its staggering collection of flagship fashion stores, and a bevy of restaurants serving the best in modern Italian cuisine. Truly a city of many parts.
Day 1 – 4

Your chauffeur will drive you from Milan to Bellagio in a private vehicle (Duration: 1.5 hrs)

3 Nights

Bellagio

Bellagio is a lovely little romantic waterfront town by the famous Lake Como and its azure blue waters, surrounded by wooded hills and graceful old villas. Whether the Italian master, Alessandro Manzoni’s 19th-century masterpiece, I Promessi Sposi, the 1970s classic Al Pacino-starrer, Bobby Deerfield, the more recent Ocean’s Twelve or the Serbian author Srđjan Valjarević’s novel, Lake Como (set in Bellagio), the region has inspired countless artists down the ages. Soak in its charm as you laze by the lakeside or walk on Loppia Beach. Wander along the winding cobbled streets, climbing up and down old stone stairs and immerse yourself in the old-world ambiance of villas with dark groves and gardens. The Villa Serbelloni Park, an old terraced garden with a view of the lake, is worth a visit, as is the San Giacomo Church, the old town center and the Museum of Navigational Instruments with its bounty of ancient compasses and sundials.

What to do in Bellagio at your leisure: our recommendations

Here are our recommendations on what to do in Bellagio. Begin with a walk in the pretty medieval town center. Its ancient streets and narrow alleys are filled with colorful houses along steep stone staircases. In the Piazza della Chiesa, Bellagio’s main square, there’s the Basilica of San Giacomo. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries in the Como-Lombard Romanesque style, it contains many interesting artworks, frescoes and artefacts. Stroll along the waterfront promenade, soak in the scenery and stop for a coconut and limoncello gelato. Then, go on a guided tour of the gardens of Villa Serbelloni. This hillside botanical garden is replete with native and exotic plants, statues, caves and water features. Next, visit Punta Spartivento at the tip of the peninsula and admire views of Lake Como and the snowcapped Swiss Alps. Feast alfresco on robust regional fare at Ristorante La Punta. Later, go shopping for silk souvenirs, leather items imprinted with gorgeous designs and sample delicious local cheese.
